BIO: Natasha Marshall is a junior Rehabilitation Services major from the beautiful city of Chicago, Illinois. She has aspirations of become a physical therapist eventually working with collegiate or professional athletes. On campus Natasha serves as the W.E.B DuBois Honors Program president, Miss Omega Psi Phi, Miss Circle K, and a resident assistant for the 2017-2018 year. She finds her happiness in helping others progress and find joy in life. Also, she is running to become the next Miss Alabama State University for the 2018-2019 year.
Natasha Marshall is someone who advocates the importance of mental health and believes in doing random acts of kindness to brighten up people’s day. Marshall is one out of six candidates running to become the next Miss Alabama State University for the 2018-2019 academic year. Her platform “ All That Glitters”, focuses on prioritizing mental health, “glitters” is the acronym for giving love, inspiring transformation, teaching elevation, and redefining shine. “By giving love I just mean random acts of kindness to brighten up people’s day because sometimes you never know what type of day people are having and that definitely impacts your mental health just because I notice on campus we are not always the most prone to speaking to people”, said Marshall. With inspiring transformation, she wishes to transform the stigma attached to mental health. “A lot of people have a negative stigma toward it, especially in our African American community, they look at it as a negative thing so they don’t want to address it”, said Marshall. While campaigning for Miss ASU 2018-19, Natasha has hosted many events that will attract the students to her platform, she has organized a work out class, a karaoke night for students, and she has also handed out balloons to student with inspirational quotes. Although she is very involved on campus, she finds the time to speak to students about her platform and what it means to her.
