BIO: Essynce A’dejai Henderson, native Houstonian, is a rising senior majoring in Rehabilitation Service. Upon completion of her undergraduate degree she plans to attend medical school to become an orthodontist. She is heavily involved in her campus and community, Essynce spends her time in leadership roles on campus and by volunteering with various organizations including Purple Heart, Common Grounds, and Montgomery Food Bank. As your candidate for SGA Secretary, Essynce hopes to bridge communication between students and SGA. Essynce is passionate about connecting others and wants more students to realize all the many benefits SGA has to offer. Through her platform, it’s a F.A.C.T. , she hopes to provide her peers opportunities to be better connected to SGA , improve their educational experience and connection to other fellow students. If it’s left up to Essynce Henderson then “ISSA F.A.C.T, it’s handled!” Henderson is 1 of 3 candidates running for the student government association Secretary position. As her platform is “Issa FACT” it is an acronym for Financial literacy, ASU literacy, community service, and taking charge. To Henderson these are the key points for students here at ASU. Henderson believes she is a leader that is capable to maintain the upkeep of this position. She is also no stranger to involvement in SGA or on campus. Henderson is currently apart of the senate and has served as the freshman class president at Clark University, before she transferred to ASU. Henderson is also a golden ambassador, President of collegiate 100, a member of NAACP, and First Love Yourself Mentoring program. With her involvement Henderson believes that is what will set her apart from her opponents… “experience” Henderson noted. As secretary Henderson would like to keep some things in tact as well as change somethings to ensure her service is the best that it can be. “I want to keep the newsletters going,” Henderson stated. But, she doesn’t want it to be the regular, old fashioned letters. Henderson would like to partner with other campus organizations when putting out newsletters, as well as themed newsletter release parties to keep students attention. She would also like to keep better records of agendas and past events. Henderson made it clear that her love for state and wanting to help the university runs deep. If she is not elected for the 2018-19 Secretary she would like for her voice to be heard. “I would still remain a senator or try to sit in the executive committee, or be apart of the president’s cabinet…. I will still stand on my platform.”
