Miss Senior Candidate: Who is Shykenya Jackson?

BIO: A junior Business Management major from Greene County, Alabama. I attended Greene County High School located in Eutaw, AL. I am a driven individual who wants the best for herself and everyone else. While growing up, I have taken six years of vocal lesson, as well as four years of piano lessons Also, I have been a member of my church choir since the age of six. I am a young lady who strives to present her best self and then give her best. I am always up for a challenge in which I do believe will reveal my ability of achieving anything that I put my mind to. I am seeking to be the 2018-2019 Miss Senior. My platform, “Releasing the Inner B.O.S.S. by (being our soulful self),” focuses on helping ALL students develop effective ways of prioritizing, preparing, and prosperity. Oftentimes, we have those “what if” moments that can cause us to regret the past and lose sight of the present. It is important that we cherish each moment of our lives and adopt a layout of how we want our lives to unfold. Also, I believe that each of these aspects will secure a foundation of success. I decided to run for this position, because I am a social individual who understand others needs and struggles. I am familiar with the things that I have struggled with in the past such as self-confidence, motivation, and self-assurance, therefore I would like to help my fellow peers overcome issues that are related to such. College is a learning experience and due to the fact that there are many distractions that takes place during college, we have to properly prioritize in order to complete task in a timely manner and to reduce the risks of anxiety. According to Google, Preparedness is defined as, “A state of being ready, especially for war.” I think that it is always necessary to plan for the best, but prepare for the worst in all aspects of our lives, it is not about how one fails, it is solely about how one overcomes the issue in order to succeed.      Shykenya Jackson is 1 of 2 candidates for Miss Senior. Her platform is “Releasing the inner boss, by being our soulful selves.” With this platform Jackson will choose to focus on students priorities, preparation, and prosperity.      One of Jackson’s initiatives is to begin having venting counseling services for students for students to express themselves, along with network with one another. 

       As Miss Senior Jackson would like to focus on more than just the class of 2019. She would like for her platform to be heard by all of the classes. Her main issues at hand, that she would like to tackle are confidence and assistance. She has already made the motion to contact local speakers to come speak with students at her events if she is elected as Miss Senior. These events will consist of a seminar style speaking engagement that will be held as a conversation, for the comfortability of the students.     Jackson stated that she is a reliable candidate and that is why she should be chosen for this position. “I will do the Job,” Jackson added.      Previous Queens that have held the Miss Senior title have “had problems with going missing” Jackson said, but as Miss Senior 2018-19, Jackson ensured that that would not happen.      Jackson is a member of collegiate 100, the SGA Legislative branch, COBA Dean's Council, TRIO, and NSLS.     As a Miss Senior Candidate Jackson stated “I know what I can do,” and will use that to her advantage if she is granted this position.
