“The goal is to collect as many dresses as possible.” Kleo Torres, who reigns as the 2018-19 Miss Junior, at Alabama State University, has put together a senior prom dress drive. This service project serves as her very first, since the start of her reign. The goal is to receive as many prom dresses as possible for seniors who are in need, locally in Montgomery. “I want to ensure ladies of Montgomery have a successful prom and one less thing to worry about,” Torres explained. Helping along side of Torres are her sister queens who reign at North Carolina A&T, Alabama A&M, Eastern Shore University, Coppin State University, Lincoln University, and Southern University. Each queen will assist by reposting the mandated flier and collecting dresses. At the conclusion of the drive the queens have agreed to mail Torres their collections, in efforts to ensure that this drive is successful. The last day to donate dresses will be on Feb. 4. All dresses will be donated to G.W Carver High School. When asked “How will you ensure that the ladies chosen are in need of the dresses” Torres said that she plans to communicate with the senior class teachers who will assist her in finding the females who need the donations the most. Those who would like to donate can contact Torres on Twitter or Instagram @Torreskleo or by email at kleotorres@yahoo.com
